After a three-minute walk from our hotel in Locarno, you can reach the Piazza Grande, which is described as the finest town square in Switzerland. It is adjoined by a strolling promenade covered by arcades where you can purchase Ticino delicacies, Swiss watches and antiques in the many small shops and boutiques. Next to the Sant’Antonio church, you will find the Pinacoteca comunale, the municipal contemporary art collection.
You can reach the 16th century pilgrimage church of Madonna del Sasso by funicular or by walking along a path known as the Via Crucis. From here, you can enjoy a wonderful view of Locarno and the lake. You can also quickly reach the medieval town castle, the “Castello”. Inside, you will find the region’s archaeological museum.
