You can conveniently reach numerous restaurants and the most important sightseeing attractions in the metropolis on foot, such as the Viktualienmarkt food market, the shopping mile, the Stachus square or the Theresienwiese. Sightseeing and shopping can be wonderfully combined in the Old Town’s pedestrian precinct. Right near the Old Town Hall and the New Town Hall, you will find the famous Viktualienmarkt food market. The permanent market stalls are grouped around a maypole, the Liesl Karlstadt Fountain and a beer garden situated in the centre of the market. Here you can purchase food and, in particular, culinary specialities from Munich and Bavaria. By the Stachus square, which is also known as Karlsplatz, is the old botanical garden, a park that is highly suitable for a relaxing walk among the greenery.
On the Theresienwiese, various festivals take place depending on the time of year. The most famous is the Oktoberfest in autumn, which attracts visitors from around the world. In addition, the Theresienwiese is home to the Tollwood Festival in winter and the Munich Spring Festival. In winter, it is also worth paying a visit to the Munich Christmas Market on the Marienplatz square, which can also be conveniently reached on foot from our hotel.
