Munich’s sightseeing attractions close to our hotel

Our H+ Hotel München City Centre B&B is located right in the city centre of Munich. You can conveniently reach numerous restaurants and the most important sightseeing attractions in the metropolis on foot, such as the Viktualienmarkt food market, the shopping mile, the Stachus square or the Theresienwiese. Sightseeing and shopping can be wonderfully combined in the Old Town’s pedestrian precinct. Right near the Old Town Hall and the New Town Hall, you will find the famous Viktualienmarkt food market. The permanent market stalls are grouped around a maypole, the Liesl Karlstadt Fountain and a beer garden situated in the centre of the market. Here you can purchase food and, in particular, culinary specialities from Munich and Bavaria. By the Stachus square, which is also known as Karlsplatz, is the old botanical garden, a park that is highly suitable for a relaxing walk among the greenery.

On the Theresienwiese, various festivals take place depending on the time of year. The most famous is the Oktoberfest in autumn, which attracts visitors from around the world. In addition, the Theresienwiese is home to the Tollwood Festival in winter and the Munich Spring Festival. In winter, it is also worth paying a visit to the Munich Christmas Market on the Marienplatz square, which can also be conveniently reached on foot from our hotel.

Excursion destinations in Munich

From the city centre, you have excellent connections to Munich’s zoo and numerous parks, theatres and museums. Internationally renowned art collections are displayed at the Alte Pinakothek, Neue Pinakothek, Pinakothek der Moderne and Lenbachhaus art museums. The Deutsches Museum includes some 50 exhibition areas dedicated to science and technology topics. The Olympiapark, where the Summer Olympic Games took place in 1972, is still home to many sporting and cultural events today.

Our tips for the surrounding area:

The Theresienwiese is the setting for Munich’s annual Oktoberfest beer festival, but it also hosts major events during other months. These include the month-long Tollwood cultural festival in winter and the spring festival held in April and May

Situated in the middle of the traffic-calmed Old Town, Marienplatz forms the heart of Munich. Cafés and shops are ideal for when you want to take a stroll and pass some time, while the neo-Gothic New Town Hall captivates visitors several times a day with its famous Glockenspiel.
