Going on a safari
Interested visitors gain an insight to the diversity of the animal kingdom by visiting the more than 100 year old Hellabrunn Zoo. Be blown away by more than 750 different types of animals on more than 40 hectares of land.
More than 1.5 million visitors a year cannot be wrong – the Deutsches Museum is a highlight of the Bavarian state capital. With more than 28,000 exhibited objects, it is also the world’s largest museum with a focus on natural sciences and technology.
The "Cathedral of Our Dear Lady" located close to Marienplatz in the Altstadt of Munich was completed in late Gothic style in 1488 after just twenty years of construction. The church's southern tower offers a unique view of Munich which must remain unobstructed. Upon entering the Frauenkirche, the simple design and the bright nave flooded with light are immediately striking. The entrance area also contains the famous "Teufelstritt" or "Devil's Footstep" - a footprint embedded in the floor that, according to legend, was left behind by the devil. The Munich Frauenkirche regularly hosts wonderful organ concerts that make visits all the more beautiful. You can reach the cathedral is just quarter of an hour on foot.
Bavarian National Theatre
Opera, ballet, concerts and theatre productions in magnificent surroundings can all be enjoyed with a visit to the National Theatre Munich, one of the world's top opera houses. The theatre located on Max-Joseph-Platz, built in 1818 in classical style, is the home of both the Bavarian State Ballet and the Bavarian State Opera and offers seating for 2100 audience members. Equally impressive are the 2500 m2 large stages, allowing for marvellous top-class productions such as during the Munich Opera Festival.
