Barockschloss Mannheim – residence of the electoral princes
Mannheim Palace, built in 1750, was home to the electoral princes (or “Kurfürsten”) of the Palatinate. After the Palace of Versailles, it is the largest Baroque building in Europe. The façade is a full 440 metres long. The palace museum has an exhibition on the Baroque style and the life of the electoral princes. It is just ten minutes’ walk from the RAMADA Hotel Mannheim.
Jesuitenkirche –a Baroque masterpiece
The Baroque Jesuit Church in Mannheim dates back to 1760, and was the court church of the electoral princes. Points of interest include the crossing beneath the dome and the magnificent red sandstone façade.
