Not far from Stade, the city of Hamburg attracts many visitors from all over the world with exciting harbour tours, exclusive shopping, a first-rate range of art and culture, and lively nightlife. It takes about an hour to get to the city on the Elbe from the H+ Hotel Stade Herzog Widukind.

You will simply love Stade Old Town with it’s magnificent timber-framed buildings, most of which date back to the 17th century. For example, explore the town’s weigh house, the alderman’s houses on the Alter Hansehafen (Old Hanseatic Harbour) or the guildhalls and residences in the surrounding streets. “Schwedenspeicher“ with museum

The “Schwedenspeicher” or Swedish Warehouse on the Alter Hansehafen, is a brick building dating from the 17th century, and today houses a regional museum. It hosts exhibitions covering the history of the town, the Hanseatic period and also archaeological finds in the area. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk here from the H+ Hotel Stade Herzog Widukind.

The “Kunsthaus am Wasser West” or Arthouse on the West Water” is situated on Alter Hansehafen. The timber framed structure was built as a merchant’s house and warehouse in 1667. Today, temporary exhibitions show the works of famous artists such as Macke, Picasso and Dali. It is about five minutes’ walk away from the H+ Hotel Stade Herzog Widukind.
