Monument to the Battle of the Nations - 300,000 tonnes of stone
The Monument to the Battle of the Nations (Völkerschlachtdenkmal) is a reminder of the 1813 battle. At 91 metres, it is one of the largest memorials in Europe. Visitors are impressed by the Ruhmeshalle pantheon and its guard statues, and the domed ceiling decorated with 324 almost life-sized equestrian paintings. The Thomaskirche and the “Thomanerchor”
The Thomaskirche dates back to the 15th century, and is famous worldwide for its former choirmaster, Johann Sebastian Bach, as well as the “Thomanerchor”, or St. Thomas Choir.
