Go for a lovely stroll through Herrenberg’s historic Old Town, with its lovingly restored craftsman’s houses and venerable buildings. The Stiftskirche Herrenberg church is the landmark of the city. The late-Gothic hall church is known by locals as the “Glucke” or mother-hen, because of its dominant position on a hill. As one of the largest baroque buildings in Germany, and one of the best-preserved examples of its kind in Europe, Ludwigsburg Residential Palace is well worth a visit. The breathtaking state rooms offer more than just an encounter between two centuries. Traces of early baroque splendour, as well as rococo and neoclassicism, are visible. On top of this, princely apartments, museums, and a palace theatre without parallel leave visitors to marvel open-mouthed.

The art museum is one of Germany’s most popular museums. Displays include European works of art from the 14th to the 21st century, as well as the Avant Garde movement after 1945. There are also regular special exhibitions.
