Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe is the largest mountain park in Europe and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Water cascades from the 71-metre-high Hercules statue down to Wilhelmshöhe Palace. From the H4 Hotel Kassel, you can travel up to Hercules by train and bus in around 25 minutes and then walk down through the park.

Fridericianum Kassel as the site of the "documenta"
The Fridericianum, built in 1779, is considered the first public museum building in continental Europe. Since 1955, the Fridericianum on Friedrichplatz has been the focal point of the "documenta". It is also worth a visit outside of the "documenta": temporary exhibitions of contemporary art have been shown here since 1988.
